Mini, slim and regular describe a pouch's physical format. They do not measure nicotine content and do not represent identical dimensions across manufacturers.
What do the common names mean?
| Format | Usual description | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Mini | Shorter and more compact | Exact weight or nicotine amount |
| Slim | Narrow and elongated | A universal standard width |
| Regular | A brand's standard format, sometimes also called slim | That it is wider than every slim pouch |
| Large or maxi | A larger format within a range | A fixed size or strength |
Use the manufacturer's dimensions when available. Otherwise, treat the name as a description within that particular range.
Why can regular also mean slim?
ZYN's UK format guide uses Mini and Regular while describing Regular as a slim format. Names from different brands are therefore not shared size standards.
Regular may also describe format in one field and a strength category in another. Read what the field measures.
Filling weight is separate from format

Format describes shape. Filling weight measures the material inside. If the stated net weight refers to the filling, dividing it by the pouch count gives an average filling weight.
For example, 12 g of filling across 20 pouches gives 0.6 g per pouch. Do not include the container or other packaging. If the basis of the net weight is unclear, ask the manufacturer before calculating.
Does a smaller pouch contain less nicotine?

Not necessarily. At the same concentration of 12 mg/g, 0.5 g of filling gives 6 mg, while 0.8 g gives 9.6 mg.
A smaller pouch with a higher concentration can contain more nicotine. Its format name cannot answer the question.
Keep these details separate
- Exact product name and market.
- The manufacturer's format name and dimensions.
- Pouch count and net filling weight.
- Stated nicotine per pouch, or concentration and filling weight.
A photograph without a scale may show shape but cannot establish dimensions.
