Licorice

Liquorice is a flavour group for nicotine pouches with liquorice or salmiak in the product name. At Whitelip it covers plain liquorice, salmiak and liquorice combined with raspberry or violet, from 3 to 12 mg of nicotine per pouch. All the products are tobacco-free.

The liquorice range comes from ZYN, APRÈS, HELWIT, LOOP and Z!XS. Every can holds 20 pouches. Each product page states the flavour, format and nicotine content per pouch, so products can be compared side by side.

APRÈS and HELWIT combine liquorice with raspberry, and ZYN Violet Licorice combines it with violet. The flavour names are the brands' own product names, which is why the spelling of liquorice differs between them.

• 5 to 8.9 mg: ZYN Violet Licorice (6.5 mg)

Some product names add a strength word such as Regular or Strong. These are each brand's own labels and differ between brands, so mg per pouch is the figure to compare.

Slim, Mini and other formats

Slim pouches are long and narrow, and Mini pouches are smaller. ZYN Black Licorice Mini and APRÈS Raspberry Licorice Petite are the Mini products here; on the APRÈS website, the Mini range sits under the name Petite. Both are dry, with 3 and 3.2 mg of nicotine per pouch. The other liquorice products are larger pouches from 3.5 to 12 mg.

What is salmiak?

Salmiak, or salty liquorice, is liquorice flavoured with salmiak salt, also called ammonium chloride. Liquorice itself is a flavouring extracted from the root of the liquorice plant, Glycyrrhiza glabra. At Whitelip, Z!XS uses salmiak in its product names, and the other brands here use liquorice.
